Luis Barzallo, director del departamento de Obras Públicas de la Municipalidad de Gualaceo, manifestó que en tres meses se prevé entregar el diseño para la estabilización de la montaña. Este documento fue ofrecido luego del deslizamiento y la información obtenida se aspira que sea utilizada por la Prefectura del Azuay, entidad que posee competencias sobre esta carretera.


El funcionario señaló que para este diseño el gobierno local firmó un convenio con la Universidad Católica de Cuenca. La propuesta provisional establece construir drenes y subdrenes para evacuar el agua acumulada en la cima del deslizamiento.


Diego Quezada, director de vialidad de la Prefectura, señaló que dentro de la matriz de presupuestos para este año constan “cerca de cuatro millones de dólares para invertir en esta vía”; sin embargo, aclaró que  no se ha podido concretar debido al incumplimiento del Gobierno Nacional con el pago de los bonos, producto de la venta de las acciones de las hidroeléctricas.
