El alcalde del cantón, Gustavo Vera, firmó una acta compromiso para construir la cubierta de la cancha de uso múltiple de la escuela Nicanor Aguilar Maldonado de la parroquia San Juan.

El monto de esta obra bordea los $ 50 mil dólares. Como contraparte, los padres de familia se comprometieron a apoyar con el gasto de mano de obra. Sea por sol o lluvia los estudiantes no pueden realizar sus actividades recreativas o deportivas con facilidad, por ello todos los presentes se mostraron agradecidos por el apoyo que brinda las autoridades municipales. Este acto se realizó en las afueras de la institución, con la directiva y padres de familia.
